Mushk Budji Rice has small grains, is short bold aromatic rice grown in higher reaches of Kashmir valley.It’s one of the premium verities of rice grown in Kashmir, the cooked rice is unique and possesses harmonious blend of taste, aroma and rich organoleptic properties. has an earthy, nutty taste with a unique fragrance which distinguishes it from other varieties. It is mainly is grown in areas of Sagam, Panzgam and Soaf Shali of district Anantnag and Beerwah belt of district Budgam. This is a special rice variety and you cannot grow it just anywhere. It needs special atmosphere and peculiar climatic conditions for it to grow. Kashmir traditionally used to grow both aromatic and non-aromatic rice varieties. From mid 1960s Mushk Budji Rice  in Kashmir grows mainly at an elevation of 5500 feet and above In high lying areas the yield is 40-45 quintile Per Hectare
