Spring Welcomes You To Jammu and Kashmir.

As rightly said by Robert Orben, "Spring is God's way of saying, 'One more time!'. Beautiful spring welcomes you with flowers all around making you realize that winters aren't forever and reconfirms that the change is the law of nature. Blossoming tulips mark the beginning of tourist season in Jammu and Kashmir. This year is a bit different, we now have two tulip gardens in Jammu and Kashmir, one is situated on the foothills of Zabarwan Range with an overview of Dal Lake in Srinagar and the other one at beautiful Sansar, near Patnitop Jammu.

Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden Srinigar.

Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden is Asia's Largest tulip garden situated in the foothills of Zabarwan hills with an overview of famous Dal lake.The location of the garden is a heavenly experience, the gentle slope of mighty Zabarwab hills, lush green golf course in the north and the pristine dal lakes to the west makes an idea treat of eyes and soul.

It spreads across 30 hectares of land, this year the department of floriculture has planted 12.25 lakh Tulip bulbs of 40 varieties and colors in the garden. Apartment for tulips other species of flowers have been added to the Tulip garden this year, these include Hyacinths, Daffodils, Narcissus and other ornamental plants. This Garden was opened in 2007 with the aim to boost tourism in Jammu and Kashmir.

Sanasar Tulip Garden.

Tulip Garden Sanasar Jammu

With the aim to make Jammu an independent tourist destination, a new tulip garden at Sanasar near famous holiday destination Patnitop was inaugurated and thrown open to the public for the first time.The garden has been developed by the Floriculture Department in the area of four kanals given by Patnitop Development Authority (PDA). This year three varieties of Tulips including Double Early Largo, Single Early Candelillia, and Single Early Purissima have been planted and are being displayed in the garden.The department of floriculture is looking ahead to display large varieties of the Tulip next year while expanding its area also. The distance between Katra and Patnitop is around 85 kilometers, it will be a treat for the tourists to visit this place and experience the beautiful tulip garden.

Tulip Festival

In order to promote tourism Jammu and Kashmir Organises a Tulip Festival in order to celebrate and showcase the beautiful blossoming tulips and welcome the onset of the spring season in Jammu and Kashmir. The festival is organized for 15 days starting from 1st April to 15th of April every year.
